Willow Smith, G.O.O.D. Music, Jay-Z, and more highlight the BET Awards
The BET Awards was aired live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California last night in what was a show to remember.
The BET pre-show had performances from A$AP Rocky, Slaughterhouse, Driicky Graham and more, but Willow Smith had twitter buzzing with the video for a new single titled “I Am Me,” that debuted during the show.
Before the main show began Rocsi & Terrence J announced that the 2012 BET Awards begain, giving speculation that their reign on 106 & Park will be ending sooner than later.

The awards started off with a bang with the G.O.O.D. Music family which performed “Mercy” in front of a giant Lamborghini and an impressive light show.
Kanye West followed up and performed “Way Too Cold,” before busting out in a live freestyle live on stage.
Kanye West and Jay-Z won two awards that night, one for Video of the Year for “Otis,” and for Best Group.
One of the best moments of the night happened when Jay-Z surprised Kanye while accepting the award for Best Group.
Other performances included MMG, a powerful performance by Melanie Fiona, Chris Brown and the return of D’Angelo who looked like the reincarnation of James Brown during his set.
Maze Featuring Beverly was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, and took us all into the back yards with their first televised performance ever.

The show ended with Cash Out and Tyga performing their hits “Cashing Out,” and “Rack City” respectively, but by then the show was stolen by Whitney Houston’s tribute.

Monica, Brandy, Chaka Khan and Cissy Houston performed various hits in tribute to the late great Whitney Houston that left everyone with a tear in their eye, especially Soulja Boy who was shown crying like a baby.
Overall, this was one of the best awards shows that BET has produced in its history.
Other than a little over use from the censors, and showing Jay-Z, Beyonce, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian 100 times during the broadcast, the show seemed to have gone smoothly in its overall presentation.
